Working around the boot, fold the gasket into the drum opening to access the inner retaining band securing it to the tub; release this band as well and remove the old gasket. Check for and transfer any small parts such as the drain/pressure sensor port fitting if your model routes one through the boot. Fit the new MDS66290824 gasket's inner lip into the tub-side mounting groove first, working it evenly around the full circumference, then reinstall the inner retaining band. Fold the gasket back out and seat the outer lip into the cabinet opening, aligning it evenly, then reinstall the outer retaining band. Restore power and run a cycle with the door closed to check for leaks around the full perimeter of the seal. Tools needed: pliers or a flat-blade screwdriver, and a spring clamp tool if your model uses a wire-spring outer band.
