Installation Notes
⚠️ Unplug Refrigerator and Shut Off Water Before Starting Unplug the refrigerator and shut off the household water supply valve before beginning. Place a towel and small container under the valve area to catch residual water. Pull the refrigerator away from the wall to access the back lower panel — remove the panel screws to expose the water inlet valve. Photograph the wiring harness connections and water tube connections before disconnecting. Turn off the water supply and disconnect the 1/4" supply line from the valve inlet — use an adjustable wrench, as some compression fittings may be stuck. Squeeze the plastic retaining clips on the outlet tube fittings and pull the internal water tubes free. Disconnect the wiring harness. Unscrew the mounting bracket and remove the old valve. Install the new W10498976 valve with its bracket, reconnect the internal water tubes (push until they click), reconnect the wire harness and supply line. Restore water supply and power. Run a water dispenser test and check for leaks. Tools needed: Phillips screwdriver, adjustable wrench, needle-nose pliers.
