Door interlock switches are a critical safety system: they exist specifically to cut power the instant the door opens, preventing microwave radiation from escaping the cavity. Never operate a microwave with an interlock switch disconnected, bypassed, or jumpered, even temporarily — doing so can expose you and others to microwave radiation.
