WB44X5082 Genuine OEM GE Oven Bake Element
The WB44X5082 is a Genuine OEM GE replacement oven bake element compatible with a wide range of GE, Hotpoint, RCA, Kenmore, Haier, Monogram, and Café electric ranges, wall ovens, and oven/range combos. The bake element is the lower heating element in an electric oven — it provides the primary heat source for baking, roasting, and preheating. When the bake element is working correctly, it glows red hot during the bake cycle. When it fails, the oven will not heat at all, will take much longer to preheat, or will bake unevenly — relying only on the broil element for heat.
This Genuine OEM part is manufactured by GE to factory specifications. It is a rabbit-ears style element rated at 2300W / 236V with screw-on terminals, measuring 18-1/4" wide x 14-1/2" deep to the mounting flange. It replaces a large number of older GE bake element part numbers including WB44X5061, WB44X5072, WB44X5085, WB44X6082, WB44X0192, WB44X10003, WB44X1126, WB44X192, AP2031084, 3358, and 8030, among many others. Installs in 15–20 minutes with a Phillips screwdriver.

Installation Notes
⚠️ Unplug Range or Turn Off Breaker Before Starting Disconnect power before beginning and allow the oven to cool completely. Open the oven door. The bake element is the lower element at the bottom of the oven cavity. Remove the two Phillips screws securing the element bracket to the rear oven wall. Carefully pull the element forward toward the door — the wires connecting to the element terminals are typically only a few inches long, so pull gently and do not jerk the element free. Note the position of the two wires on the screw terminals before disconnecting — they are interchangeable on most models but it is good practice to reconnect them in the same positions. Unscrew the terminal screws, remove the old element, and connect the new WB44X5082 element to the same terminals. Slide the element back into position and secure the mounting bracket screws. Restore power and run a bake cycle to verify the element heats and glows red. Tools needed: Phillips screwdriver only.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if my bake element has failed?
The most obvious sign is an oven that does not heat, takes much longer than usual to preheat, or bakes food unevenly with the bottom undercooked. When the bake element is working, it should glow bright red during a bake cycle — if it does not glow at all, the element has failed. You can also visually inspect the element for burn marks, blistering, cracks, or visible holes or breaks in the coil. A multimeter continuity test will confirm failure: a working element shows continuity, while a failed element reads open circuit. If the element trips the circuit breaker when the bake cycle is selected, a shorted element is the likely cause.
Why does my oven still heat a little even with a failed bake element?
Electric ovens have two heating elements — the bake element at the bottom and the broil element at the top. When the bake element fails, the control board may still energize the broil element to try to reach the set temperature. This results in an oven that heats slowly and unevenly — hot at the top and cool at the bottom — and often never reaches the set temperature. Food will be overcooked on top and undercooked on the bottom, or baking times will be significantly longer than normal.
Does the WB44X5082 replace WB44X5061, WB44X5072, and WB44X5085?
Yes — the WB44X5082 is the current GE bake element that supersedes all three of those earlier part numbers, as well as WB44X6082, WB44X0192, WB44X10003, and several others. GE has consolidated multiple older bake element part numbers into the WB44X5082 over successive production runs. If your oven's parts diagram lists any of these older numbers, the WB44X5082 is the correct current replacement.
Are the two wires on the bake element interchangeable?
On most GE electric ranges, the two wires connecting to the bake element terminals are interchangeable — there is no positive or negative polarity for a resistance heating element. Either wire can connect to either terminal and the element will heat correctly. However, GE specifically recommends photographing or noting which wire connects to which terminal before disconnecting, especially on models where the wires are color-coded for other control functions. When in doubt, reconnect in the same positions as the original.
Is this a Genuine OEM or aftermarket part?
This is a Genuine OEM part manufactured by GE to factory specifications. It is the exact same bake element installed in compatible GE, Hotpoint, and related brand electric ovens from the factory — guaranteed fit, materials, and performance.
