To access it, insert a putty knife about 2 inches from each front corner of the top panel to release the spring clips and lift the top panel. Disconnect the 4-wire harness from the old lid switch assembly. Remove the mounting screws securing the assembly and lift it out. Install the new W10404050 assembly, secure with the mounting screws, and reconnect the 4-wire harness. Choose the appropriate bezel (white or gray) for your model and snap it into place. Lower the top panel until the clips engage. Restore power and run a test cycle to confirm the lid locks, the washer starts, and the spin cycle stops when the lid is opened. Tip: While the top panel is raised, inspect the lid strike (W10240513) on the lid for cracks or wear — if worn, replace it at the same time. Tools needed: Phillips screwdriver, putty knife or flat pry tool.
