285805 Genuine OEM Whirlpool Washer Water Inlet Valve
The 285805 is a genuine Whirlpool OEM water inlet valve for direct-drive top-load washers and Whirlpool-built washer/dryer laundry centers. This valve sits at the back of the washer where the hot and cold supply hoses connect, and it controls every drop of water entering the tub — energizing to open the hot side, the cold side, or both together when the control calls for a fill, and closing again once the correct level is reached. It's one of the longest-running, most widely used inlet valves on the Whirlpool direct-drive platform, the same platform that our 8318084 lid switch listing also serves.
This is a complete kit: it ships with the mounting bracket, screws, and installation instructions, and it accepts a 1/2" ID hose through two 3/4"-11 threaded NHT ports. Depending on production run, the valve body may arrive blue or green — both are correct and function identically. Over years of use, mineral and sediment buildup (especially calcium deposits from hard water) can restrict or block the valve, the internal solenoid coil can burn out electrically, and the rubber seals can simply wear out with age. A blocked or failing valve commonly shows up as slow filling, no fill on one side, continuous filling that won't stop, or leaking after the cycle ends. It directly replaces AP3094541, 21026, 285805VP, 292197, 3349451, 3354565, 3360387, 3360388, 3360389, 3360391, 3360392, 3429537, 358992, 370067, 388328, 3952163, 3952164, 3955673, 8228, 868761, 99989697, AH334646, EA334646, PS334646, and W10110517.

⚠️ Shut Off Water Supply And Unplug Washer Before Starting — Bracket Orientation May Take Trial And Error Disconnect power at the outlet or shut off the circuit breaker, and shut off both hot and cold water supply valves before beginning. Wear work gloves. Pull the washer away from the wall for access, then disconnect the hot and cold water supply hoses from the back of the valve — have a towel ready, since residual water will spill out. Remove the screws securing the rear or top cabinet panel (on some stackable laundry centers, the entire top enclosure lifts off as one piece, which also disconnects the lid switch wiring harness at the rear — note this connector's location before pulling the panel free). Photograph the wiring and hose routing before disconnecting anything. Unplug the wiring harness from the old valve, remove its mounting screws, and pull it free along with its bracket. Some original valves used an integrated bracket, while this replacement kit ships with a separate bracket that has multiple mounting holes to fit different configurations — you may need to test a couple of orientations before the hose connections line up correctly with your existing hoses. Mount the new 285805 to the bracket, secure it in the cabinet in the same general position as the old valve, and reconnect the wiring harness. Reattach the hot and cold supply hoses to the correct ports, tightening securely by hand plus a partial turn with pliers. Reinstall the cabinet panel, reconnecting the lid switch harness if applicable, restore the water supply, and check every connection for leaks before restoring power. Run a short cycle and confirm the tub fills at the normal rate with no leaking. Tools needed: Phillips screwdriver, pliers, towel, work gloves.
Frequently Asked Questions
My valve is blue but the old one was green (or vice versa). Did I get the wrong part?
No — this is normal. The 285805 has shipped with either a blue or a green valve body depending on the production run, and both are the correct, fully functional part. The color has no effect on fit or performance.
The new valve's bracket doesn't match my old one. What do I do?
This is a known and expected difference. Many original valves used a bracket integrated directly into the valve body, while this replacement kit ships with a separate bracket that has multiple mounting holes to accommodate different washer configurations. It may take a little trial and error to find the orientation that positions the valve correctly for your existing hose connections — this is a bracket design difference, not a sign that the wrong part was sent.
Only hot water won't fill, but cold works fine. Is that this valve?
Yes, likely — and often it's specifically mineral or calcium buildup rather than outright failure. Hot water tends to accelerate scale buildup inside the valve port compared to cold, so after many years of hard water use, the hot side can become restricted or fully blocked while the cold side continues working normally. Replacing the valve resolves this since the internal ports aren't designed to be cleaned out once heavily scaled.
My washer won't stop filling. Is that dangerous, and is it this valve?
It can lead to overflow and water damage if left unaddressed, so it's worth shutting off the water supply at the wall if this happens rather than waiting. A valve that won't stop filling usually means a worn internal seal or diaphragm is no longer sealing shut when the solenoid de-energizes, letting water continue flowing. This valve is the correct replacement for that symptom.
Is this an OEM or aftermarket part?
This is a genuine OEM part, manufactured by Whirlpool to factory specifications — guaranteed fit, materials, and performance. It includes the same dual-port solenoid design, thread specifications, and flow-rate calibration as the water inlet valve originally installed in your direct-drive top-load washer or laundry center.

XPARTCO 3406105 Dryer Door Switch Replaces WP3406105
The XPARTCO 3406105 is an aftermarket replacement dryer door switch assembly compatible with a wide range of Whirlpool-family dryers including Whirlpool, Kenmore, Maytag, KitchenAid, Amana, Roper, Estate, Crosley, Inglis, Admiral, Jenn-Air, Magic Chef, and Norge. The door switch is a safety component mounted inside the dryer cabinet near the door opening. When the door is closed, the door strike depresses the switch actuator, completing the circuit and allowing the dryer to start and run. When the door is opened, the switch opens the circuit and stops the dryer. On models with a broken belt detection circuit, the door switch also plays a role in belt failure detection. A failed door switch causes the dryer to either not start at all or to run continuously with the door open.
This is a Single Pole, Double Throw (SPDT) 3-wire switch with stainless steel terminals and a heat-resistant housing. It measures 1-3/4" L x 1-5/8" W x 1-1/4" H with a 7-3/4" wiring harness. Installation Notes
⚠️ Unplug Dryer Before Starting Disconnect power (and shut off gas for gas dryers) before beginning. The door switch is located inside the dryer cabinet near the door opening, typically mounted in the front panel or top panel. Access it by inserting a putty knife under the top panel to release the spring clips and lift the top, then release the front panel. Locate the old door switch — it is a small rectangular component with a spring-loaded actuator button. Photograph the wiring connections before disconnecting. Disconnect the 3-wire harness from the old switch. Release the switch from its mounting bracket by pressing the retaining tabs and pulling the switch free, or unscrewing the mounting screw. Snap the new 3406105 switch into the mounting bracket and reconnect the 3-wire harness in the same positions. Reassemble the front and top panels, restore power, and run a test cycle to confirm the dryer starts, stops when the door is opened, and runs normally. Tools needed: Phillips screwdriver, putty knife.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does the dryer door switch do?
The door switch is a safety component that monitors whether the dryer door is open or closed. When the door is closed, the door strike depresses the switch actuator, completing the electrical circuit and signaling the control board that it is safe to run. When the door is opened, the actuator releases, opening the circuit and stopping the dryer immediately. On many Whirlpool-family dryers, the 3-wire SPDT switch also provides a secondary circuit used for broken belt detection — one of the switch's contacts is part of the motor start circuit, while the other is part of a safety cutoff circuit.
How do I test the door switch with a multimeter?
Unplug the dryer and disconnect the switch from the harness. Set your multimeter to continuity mode. The 3406105 is an SPDT switch with three terminals — typically labeled Common (C), Normally Open (NO), and Normally Closed (NC). With the actuator button not pressed (door open position), you should read continuity between C and NC, and no continuity between C and NO. With the actuator button pressed (door closed position), you should read continuity between C and NO, and no continuity between C and NC. Any deviation from this pattern confirms the switch has failed.
What is the difference between 3406105 and 3406104?
The 3406104 was the original part number, and the 3406105 (later updated to WP3406105) is the current replacement that superseded it. They are the same door switch and are fully interchangeable. The 3405104 and 3405105 are also cross-references for this same switch from earlier production. If your dryer's documentation or old switch label shows any of these numbers, the 3406105 is the correct current replacement.
Why does this switch have 3 wires when my old switch only had 2?
The WP3406105 is an SPDT (Single Pole, Double Throw) switch with 3 terminals — Common, Normally Open, and Normally Closed. Some older dryer models used a simpler 2-wire switch, but the 3-wire WP3406105 is the updated replacement that works on both older and newer models. On models that originally had a 2-wire switch, only two of the three terminals are used — the third is simply left unconnected. Follow your model's wiring diagram or take a photo of the original switch's wire connections before removing it.
Is this an OEM or aftermarket part?
This is an aftermarket replacement part built to OEM-equivalent quality standards. It is not a genuine Whirlpool OEM part, but is manufactured from durable plastic and metal with stainless steel terminals to match the dimensions and electrical specifications of the original WP3406105 door switch assembly.

EXP499 Microwave Door Switch (Normally Closed)
The EXP499 is a universal replacement normally closed (NC) door interlock switch for microwave ovens and microwave/oven combination units. This is a critical safety component: microwave door interlock switches exist specifically to cut power to the magnetron the instant the door opens, preventing any possibility of microwave radiation escaping the cavity while the door isn't fully closed and latched. This switch's normally closed contact design matches a wide range of microwave door latch mechanisms across GE, Whirlpool, Samsung, LG, Kenmore, and other brands.
Rated 16A, 125/250VAC. Over time, this switch's contacts can wear, pit, or fuse together from repeated cycling and the electrical load carried every time the door opens and closes. A failing interlock switch typically shows up as a microwave that won't start at all, a display that works but the unit won't heat, or intermittent operation tied to the door latch area. This is the normally closed counterpart to our EXP497 (normally open) and EXP480 (combined NC/NO) listings — always confirm which specific contact configuration your microwave's failed switch uses before ordering.
Quick Answer
The EXP499 Microwave Door Switch (Normally Closed) fixes microwave ovens and microwave/oven combos that won't start, won't heat, or operate intermittently near the door latch area. 16A, 125/250VAC, normally closed (NC) contact design. Never operate a microwave with a bypassed, disconnected, or suspected-faulty door interlock switch — these switches exist to prevent radiation exposure and must always be replaced with a properly rated part, never removed or defeated.
Common Problems This Part Fixes
Microwave won't start at all, even though the display and buttons respond normally
Microwave display and timer work, but the unit won't heat
Microwave stops working intermittently, especially around the door latch
Clicking or buzzing sound from the door area without the microwave starting
Breaker tripping when the door is opened, indicating a switch contact that has fused shut
Door that doesn't feel like it's latching securely

Compatibility
This door switch is a universal replacement compatible with convection microwave ovens, grill microwave ovens, microwave/oven combination units, and solo microwave ovens across many brands including GE, Whirlpool, Samsung, LG, and Kenmore, wherever the original switch matches this normally closed (NC) contact configuration and electrical rating.
Note: Microwave door interlock systems typically use two or three separate switches working together (primary interlock, monitor/secondary switch, and sometimes a third safety switch), and not all of them share this same normally closed (NC) configuration. This is a different part from our EXP497 (normally open) and EXP480 (combined NC/NO) listings. Confirm which specific switch position has failed on your microwave, and match the contact configuration and electrical rating exactly — never substitute a switch with a different configuration. Always verify your full model number before ordering. Contact our support team with your model number if you're unsure which switch your microwave needs.

Installation Notes
⚠️ Danger — Never Bypass A Door Interlock Switch Unplug the microwave before beginning any work, and if it's a built-in or over-the-range unit, shut off power at the breaker as well. Microwave ovens also contain a high-voltage capacitor that can retain a dangerous electrical charge even after the unit is unplugged — avoid touching internal components near the capacitor and magnetron. Door interlock switches are a critical safety system: they exist specifically to cut power the instant the door opens, preventing microwave radiation from escaping the cavity. Never operate a microwave with an interlock switch disconnected, bypassed, or jumpered, even temporarily — doing so can expose you and others to microwave radiation. If you are not fully comfortable working inside a microwave's internal compartment, have a qualified appliance technician perform this repair instead.
⚠️ Photograph Wiring Before Disconnecting — Match The Failed Switch Exactly Wear work gloves. Remove the outer cabinet or access panel per your model's service instructions to reach the door switch assembly, typically located near the door latch mechanism. Photograph the wiring on the old switch before disconnecting anything, and confirm you're replacing the correct switch position if your microwave uses multiple interlock switches. Disconnect the wire terminals from the old switch, remove its mounting screws, and pull it free. Install the new EXP499 in the same position, reconnect each wire terminal to its original position, and secure the mounting screws. Reinstall the cabinet or access panel. Restore power and test that the microwave starts normally with the door closed, and — this is the critical safety check — confirm the unit stops heating immediately when the door is opened during a test run with a cup of water. Tools needed: Phillips screwdriver, work gloves.
Frequently Asked Questions
My microwave stopped working. How do I know if it's actually a door switch and not something else?
A common pattern is a microwave where the display and buttons respond normally, but pressing start does nothing, or the unit hums without heating — this points toward the door interlock circuit rather than the control board. Since these switches also serve a critical safety function, if you suspect a fault in this area, it's best to have it properly diagnosed and replaced rather than working around the symptom.
Is it safe to just disconnect a faulty interlock switch so the microwave will run?
No — this is not safe under any circumstances. Door interlock switches exist specifically to cut power to the magnetron the instant the door opens, preventing microwave radiation from escaping. Bypassing, disconnecting, or jumpering one of these switches removes that protection and can expose you and anyone nearby to microwave radiation, even if the microwave otherwise appears to run normally. Always replace a faulty switch with a correctly rated new one rather than working around it.
How is this different from your EXP497 and EXP480 listings?
These are different contact configurations for different switch positions in a microwave's door interlock system. This EXP499 is normally closed (NC) only. Our EXP497 listing is normally open (NO) only, and our EXP480 listing combines both NC and NO contacts in a single switch body. Since most microwaves use two or three interlock switches with different configurations, check which contact type your specific failed switch uses before ordering.
My microwave trips the breaker whenever I open the door. What does that mean?
This can indicate that one of the door switches has fused or welded its contacts shut from repeated electrical stress, so it continues carrying current when it shouldn't. This is a genuine safety concern and the affected switch should be replaced promptly rather than continuing to use the microwave.
