279827 Genuine OEM Whirlpool Dryer Drive Motor
The 279827 is a Genuine OEM Whirlpool replacement dryer drive motor with pre-attached pulley, compatible with a wide range of Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, Estate, and Kenmore dryers. The drive motor is the component that powers everything that moves in your dryer — it turns the drum belt (which rotates the drum to tumble clothes) and simultaneously drives the blower wheel (which pushes heated air through the drum and out the exhaust vent). When the motor fails, the dryer either won't start, won't tumble, stops mid-cycle, or makes loud humming, buzzing, or grinding noises.
This is a dual-shaft motor: the drive shaft (1-3/4" long) connects to the drum belt via the pre-attached pulley, and the blower shaft (1-3/4" long) drives the blower wheel. The pulley is pre-attached and is not available separately — if your old motor's pulley is worn, this replacement includes a new one. As a Genuine OEM part manufactured by Whirlpool to factory specifications, the 279827 is one of the most widely used dryer motors across the Whirlpool platform, replacing over 70 legacy part numbers spanning decades of production. Key cross-references include W10448892, W10396029, W10194250, 8066206, 3395654, 3398046, 3391888, 3395652, AP3094245, PS334304, and EAP334304. Includes the motor assembly, two 1/8" insulated female terminals, and instructions. Before replacing the motor, check the thermal fuse (electric dryers) and door switch first — a blown fuse or failed switch produces identical no-start symptoms and is a far cheaper fix. Installs in 45–90 minutes with basic hand tools.

Important — Before Replacing the Motor: A dryer that won't start can be caused by several components that are far cheaper and easier to replace than the motor. Before ordering, check the thermal fuse (electric dryers — test for continuity with a multimeter), the door switch (test for continuity when pressed), and the start switch. All three produce identical no-start symptoms. Only replace the motor after ruling out these common causes — a motor replacement is a significant repair, and it's far cheaper to replace a $10 thermal fuse than a $150+ motor. Always verify your dryer model number before ordering.

Installation Notes
⚠️ Disconnect Power Before Starting — 240V Circuit (Electric) or Gas Line (Gas) — Wear Work Gloves Disconnect power at the breaker before beginning — electric dryers operate on a 240V circuit and there is a serious risk of electrical shock. For gas dryers, also shut off the gas supply at the shutoff valve. Wear work gloves and safety glasses. Pull the dryer away from the wall. Remove the lint screen and the screws beneath it. For most Whirlpool-platform dryers, remove the top panel by releasing the spring clips at the front, then detach the front panel by removing the screws at the top corners. Disconnect the door switch wires and set the front panel aside. Support the drum and slide it forward to access the motor at the bottom rear. Remove the drum belt from the motor pulley and idler pulley. Photograph the motor's wiring connections before disconnecting. Disconnect the electrical connections from the motor. Remove the blower wheel from the old motor's blower shaft — this typically requires a clamp or clip removal (the blower wheel threads off counterclockwise on many models). Remove the motor mounting clip/bracket and lift out the old motor. Install the new 279827 motor in the same position. Transfer the blower wheel onto the new motor's blower shaft and secure it. Reinstall the motor mounting clip/bracket. Reconnect the electrical connections using the included insulated female terminals if needed (match your photos). Re-route the drum belt around the drum, through the idler pulley, and onto the motor pulley. Reassemble the front panel, top panel, and lint screen. Restore power (and gas for gas dryers) and run a test cycle — confirm the drum spins smoothly and heated air flows through the drum. Tools needed: Phillips screwdriver, nut driver, socket/ratchet set, putty knife (for spring clips), needle-nose pliers, work gloves, safety glasses.
Frequently Asked Questions
My dryer won't start — is the motor definitely the problem?
Not necessarily — and this is important because a motor replacement is a significant repair. A dryer that won't start can be caused by several components that are far cheaper and easier to replace. Before ordering the motor, check these first: 1) Thermal fuse (electric dryers) — a blown thermal fuse is the single most common cause of a no-start condition. Test for continuity with a multimeter; if it reads open, replace the fuse (~$10). 2) Door switch — test for continuity when pressed; if it's failed, the dryer won't start as a safety measure. 3) Start switch — if pressing the start button produces no response at all, the start switch itself may have failed. Only replace the motor after ruling these out. Signs that point specifically to the motor: a loud humming or buzzing when you press start (motor trying but can't turn), grinding or squealing from the motor area, or a motor that runs intermittently and cuts out.
Why does the motor hum but the drum doesn't turn?
A humming motor that won't turn is a classic sign of a seized or failing motor — the windings are energized (hence the hum) but the shaft can't rotate because the bearings have failed or the motor is mechanically stuck. This can also be caused by the blower wheel being jammed with lint or debris, preventing the shaft from turning — so before condemning the motor, check the blower wheel for obstructions. If the blower wheel spins freely and the motor still hums without turning, the motor has failed and needs replacement. Note: a humming motor that won't start will eventually trip the thermal fuse as a safety measure, so you may need to replace both the motor and the thermal fuse.
Why are there so many cross-reference part numbers for this motor?
The 279827 is one of the most extensively cross-referenced parts in the Whirlpool catalog because it's been the standard dryer drive motor across the Whirlpool platform for decades — spanning Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid, Amana, Roper, Estate, Kenmore, and many other brands that Whirlpool manufactures for. Over the years, the motor has been assigned different part numbers by different brands, distributors, and catalog systems (W10448892, W10396029, 8066206, 3395654, 3398046, etc.), but they all point to the same motor. If your old motor shows ANY of those numbers, the 279827 is the correct replacement.
Does this motor come with the pulley?
Yes — the pulley is pre-attached to the motor and is not available separately. The pulley is what the drum belt rides on, transferring the motor's rotation to the drum. If your old motor's pulley was worn or grooved (a common cause of belt slipping and squealing), the new 279827 includes a fresh pulley. You will need to transfer the blower wheel from your old motor to the new one — the blower wheel is not included.
Should I replace the belt and idler pulley while changing the motor?
It's strongly recommended. When you replace the motor, the dryer is already apart and both the drum belt and idler pulley are right there in your hands. All three components wear from the same friction and heat cycles, and installing a new motor with a worn belt or a seized idler pulley puts unnecessary stress on the new motor from day one. Many technicians replace the belt, idler pulley, and drum support rollers as standard maintenance whenever the dryer is opened for a motor replacement — the combined cost of these parts is modest compared to the labor of disassembling the dryer again later.
Is this a Genuine OEM or aftermarket part?
This is a Genuine OEM part manufactured by Whirlpool to factory specifications. It is the exact same drive motor with pulley installed in compatible Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, Estate, and Kenmore dryers from the factory — guaranteed fit, materials, and performance.

Genuine OEM WPW10446920 Dryer Push-To-Start Switch
The Genuine OEM WPW10446920 is a factory-original push-to-start switch manufactured by Whirlpool for use in Whirlpool, Maytag, Amana, Kenmore, Inglis, and other Whirlpool-built dryers that use a momentary push-button start control rather than a pull/rotary start knob. Pressing and releasing the button sends a signal to the timer or control board that begins the drying cycle; the switch itself does not stay latched, so the control electronics — not the switch — keep the dryer running after you let go.
When this switch fails, the dryer typically has power (the display and drum lights, if equipped, still work) but pressing Start does nothing, or the button feels mushy and requires several presses to register. As the genuine Whirlpool part, it ships with the exact factory-specified contacts, housing, and three-terminal wiring connector used on original production, so there's no fit or function guesswork. It directly replaces W10446920, 4446934, AP6021533, AWP51175, EAP11754857, OEM18064608, PD00038667, PS11754857. Installs in 15–30 minutes with basic hand tools.
Quick Answer
The Genuine OEM WPW10446920 Dryer Push-To-Start Switch fixes Whirlpool, Maytag, Amana, Kenmore, and Inglis dryers that won't start when the Start button is pressed, even though the dryer otherwise has power. Installation Notes
⚠️ Unplug Dryer Before Starting Disconnect power before beginning. Access the control panel — on most models this means removing a few screws along the top or rear of the console, or releasing spring clips, and tilting or lifting the panel to expose the back of the start switch. Photograph the wiring before disconnecting. Unplug the 3-terminal wiring connector from the old switch — note the connector orientation. Depress the retaining tabs or remove the mounting screw(s) holding the switch in the control panel and push it out from the back. Install the new WPW10446920 switch into the same opening until it snaps or seats into place. Reconnect the wiring connector, matching your photos. Reassemble the control panel and secure it with its screws or clips. Plug the dryer back in and test by pressing Start — confirm the dryer begins its cycle. Tools needed: Phillips screwdriver, putty knife or flat-blade screwdriver (for spring clips, if applicable).
Frequently Asked Questions
My dryer has power but won't start when I press the button — is this the part?
This is the classic symptom of a failed push-to-start switch. If the display and any lights still work but pressing Start produces no response — not even a click or hum from the motor — the start switch is the most common cause. If you do hear a hum or click but the drum still doesn't turn, also check the thermal fuse and cycling thermostat, since a tripped thermal fuse can sometimes present with similar no-start symptoms.
Will this fit my dryer?
WPW10446920 and its cross-reference numbers fit a range of Whirlpool-built dryers across several brands, but only models with a push-to-start button — not a rotary or pull-to-start knob. Confirm fit using your dryer's exact model number before ordering, since the two start mechanisms are not interchangeable.
Is this a genuine Whirlpool part or an aftermarket equivalent?
This is the genuine, factory-original Whirlpool part — not an aftermarket equivalent. It ships with the same contacts, housing, and 3-terminal connector used in original production, so there's no guesswork on fit, feel, or electrical rating.
Do I need any special tools to install this?
No — just a Phillips screwdriver and, on some models, a putty knife or flat-blade screwdriver to release the control panel's spring clips. No soldering or wire splicing is required; the switch connects via its original 3-terminal plug.

XPARTCO 4581EL2002H Dryer Drum Roller w/ Bearing Replaces 4581EL2002L, 4581EL2002C
The XPARTCO 4581EL2002H is an aftermarket replacement drum support roller for LG-built dryers sold under the LG, Kenmore, and GE brands. This roller sits under the drum and lets it rotate smoothly against the dryer's frame. As the roller's internal bearing wears out, it commonly starts producing a loud rumbling, squeaking, or thumping noise, and in more advanced cases the drum can start riding unevenly or vibrating during the cycle.
This version includes a self-lubricating bearing built into the roller wheel, along with the mounting shaft, nut, and washer needed for installation. It's sold as a single roller assembly — check your dryer's parts diagram to confirm whether you need one roller or a full set, since most drums use two or four rollers and it's common practice to replace them as a set even if only one has failed. It directly replaces 4581EL2002L, 4581EL2002A, 4581EL2002B, 4581EL2002C, 4581EL2002D, 4581EL2002E, 4581EL3001A, 4581EL3001C, 4581EL3001D, 4581EL3001F, AP6985402, AP7220429, AGM75510755, EAP12749664, PD00064735, and PS12749664. Installs in 30–60 minutes with basic hand tools.
Quick Answer
The XPARTCO 4581EL2002H Dryer Drum Roller w/ Bearing fixes LG, Kenmore, and GE (LG-built) dryers with a loud rumbling, squeaking, or thumping noise, or a drum that vibrates or rides unevenly during the cycle. 3-1/8" diameter x 2-3/8" width, self-lubricating bearing, sold as a single roller with shaft, nut, and washer. Replaces 4581EL2002L, 4581EL2002A/B/C/D/E, 4581EL3001A/C/D/F, AP6985402, AP7220429, AGM75510755, EAP12749664, PD00064735, PS12749664. Classic symptom: rhythmic thumping or squeaking noise that speeds up and slows down with drum rotation.
Common Problems This Part Fixes
Loud rumbling, squeaking, or squealing noise from the dryer during operation
Rhythmic thumping noise that tracks with drum rotation speed
Drum riding unevenly or wobbling during the cycle
Excessive vibration felt through the cabinet
Visible wear, cracking, or flat spots on the roller wheel

Compatibility
This drum roller is compatible with select LG-built dryers from the following brands:
LG dryers (including DLG59988S, DLE9577SM, DLE0442W, DLE8377NW, and related models)
Kenmore / Sears dryers (select LG-built models)
GE dryers (select LG-built models)
Worth Noting: Our sourcing found 4581EL2002L currently listed by the manufacturer as a 4-roller kit that itself lists 4581EL2002H among the numbers it replaces — while 4581EL2002H (this listing) is sold as a single roller assembly. Rather than one version cleanly superseding the other, these appear to be the same roller design sold under two different SKUs at two different quantities (single vs. 4-pack). Confirm how many rollers your dryer's parts diagram calls for, and contact our support team with your model number if you want to verify which listing fits your order best.

Installation Notes
⚠️ Unplug Dryer Before Starting Disconnect power before beginning. Remove the front panel (typically held by spring clips or screws behind the door frame) to access the drum. Support the drum from the front so it doesn't drop once the front panel is off. Locate the roller assemblies on the support shafts at the rear or bottom of the drum cavity. Remove the retaining nut/clip holding the old roller onto its shaft, and slide the old roller off. Slide the new 4581EL2002H roller onto the shaft and secure it with the nut and washer, matching the original orientation. If replacing multiple rollers, repeat for each one — most technicians replace all rollers at once even if only one has failed, since the others are usually not far behind in wear. Reinstall the front panel and drum, restore power, and run a test cycle to confirm the noise is gone and the drum spins smoothly. Tools needed: nut driver or socket set, putty knife (for spring clips, if applicable).
Frequently Asked Questions
My dryer makes a loud thumping or squeaking noise that speeds up with the drum — is this the part?
This is one of the most common symptoms of a worn drum roller bearing. As the bearing wears, the roller develops flat spots or excess play, producing a noise that tracks with drum rotation speed. Confirm by looking at the roller wheels through the front panel opening for visible wear, cracking, or flat spots before ordering.
Do I need one roller or a full set?
Check your dryer's parts diagram — most LG-platform drums use either two or four support rollers. This listing is for a single roller assembly. Even if only one roller is worn, many technicians replace the full set at once since the remaining originals are usually close behind in wear and it saves a repeat repair.
Is 4581EL2002H the same as 4581EL2002L?
They're the same roller design, but sold under different SKUs at different quantities — 4581EL2002H as a single roller, and 4581EL2002L as a 4-roller kit. Our sourcing found these numbers cross-referencing each other rather than one being a strict newer replacement for the other. Order based on how many rollers you actually need rather than assuming one number is more "current" than the other.
Do I need to replace the drum belt or idler pulley at the same time?
Not necessarily, but if your dryer has significant runtime, it's worth inspecting the drum belt and idler pulley (4400EL2001F and 4561EL3002A on this platform) while you have the drum out, since they're subject to similar wear and are far easier to replace with the drum already accessible.

Installation Notes
⚠️ Unplug Dryer Before Starting — Install The Snap Ring Before Assembling The Roller Onto The Shaft Disconnect power at the outlet before beginning. Wear work gloves. Remove the back panel of the dryer, then remove the drum to access the rear drum roller(s). Remove the old roller by taking off the retainer clip, sliding the roller off its shaft, and removing the shaft itself if it's also being replaced. One customer found it much easier to install the C-clip/snap ring onto the new shaft before assembling the rest of the roller, rather than after. Once assembled this way, you're only dealing with tightening a nut at the back, which can be finger-tightened and then given about a half turn with a 1/2" wrench — useful since one side of the mounting area can be tight to access. Install the new roller, shaft, fiber washer, and nut in the same position, following this assembly order. If your dryer uses two rear rollers and you've ordered a second kit to replace both, repeat this process for the other side. Reinstall the drum, making sure it seats correctly on the new roller(s). While the dryer is fully open, this is also a good opportunity to clean out any accumulated lint from inside the cabinet, since lint buildup here is a genuine fire hazard that isn't addressed by simply cleaning the lint trap. Reassemble the back panel. Restore power and run a test cycle to confirm quiet, smooth tumbling with no marks transferring to clothes. Tools needed: nut driver, 1/2" wrench, work gloves.
Frequently Asked Questions
My dryer squeaks. Is this the part I need?
Yes, squeaking is one of the most common symptoms of worn drum rollers. As the roller's bearing wears down, it can no longer support the drum's rotation smoothly, producing a squeaking or squealing noise that typically gets more noticeable over time.
Should I replace both rollers, or just the one that's obviously worn?
It's recommended to replace both rear drum support rollers at the same time for even wear, even if only one appears visibly worse than the other. This kit includes a single roller and shaft, so if your dryer uses two rear rollers, you'll want to order two of this kit to replace both together.
Do I need to lubricate these rollers?
No, these rollers use a self-lubricating bearing and do not require any additional lubrication during installation or afterward.
Is this an OEM or aftermarket part?
This is an aftermarket replacement part built to OEM-equivalent quality standards. It is not a genuine Maytag OEM part, but is manufactured to match the diameter, width, and shaft fit of the original 12001541 drum roller kit used in compatible Maytag, Whirlpool, Jenn-Air, Crosley, Kenmore, Amana, and Admiral dryers.

Genuine OEM WH03X32217 Washer Motor Pulley
The WH03X32217 is a genuine OEM 1/2 HP motor pulley and nut from GE for GE, Hotpoint, Kenmore, and RCA washers. The pulley mounts on the motor shaft and carries the drive belt that transfers the motor's power to the drum, and the nut secures it to the shaft. A pulley that cracks, wears, or strips its threads can slip on the shaft, squeal, or stop driving the belt, so the drum turns poorly or not at all.
This is a genuine OEM part, not an aftermarket equivalent, so the fit and the shaft connection match the original. This pulley is for the 1/2 HP motor. Washers with the smaller 1/3 HP motor use a different pulley, so match the part before you order.
Quick Answer
The Genuine OEM WH03X32217 Motor Pulley and Nut fixes a GE-built washer whose 1/2 HP motor pulley is cracked, worn, or has stripped threads, causing a loud squeal, belt slipping, or a drum that won't turn. Genuine OEM from GE Appliances. Classic symptom: the motor runs but the drum turns weakly or not at all, often with a squealing or slipping noise.
Common Problems This Part Fixes
Loud squealing from the motor and belt area
Drum not turning, or turning weakly, while the motor runs
Cracked, worn, or damaged plastic pulley
Stripped pulley threads or a pulley loose on the motor shaft
Drive belt slipping or wearing quickly

⚠️ Unplug Power Before Installing Unplug the washer and turn off the water supply before starting. Following your model's service guide, remove the panel needed to reach the motor and drive belt. Release the belt from the old pulley, then remove the nut holding the pulley to the motor shaft and take the pulley off. Fit the new pulley on the shaft, secure it with the nut, and refit the belt. Check that the belt sits correctly and is not worn, since a worn belt or transmission pulley can cause the same symptoms. Replace the panel, restore power and water, and run a short cycle to confirm the drum turns smoothly. Common tools are pliers, screwdrivers, and a socket set.
Frequently Asked Questions
My washer squeals and the drum won't turn. Is this the part I need?
It can be. A cracked or worn motor pulley can slip and squeal. Inspect the pulley for cracks, wear, or damaged threads, and check the belt and transmission pulley at the same time, since they can fail together.
Is this the right pulley for a 1/2 HP or a 1/3 HP motor?
This one is for the 1/2 HP motor. Washers with a 1/3 HP motor use a different pulley, so check your parts diagram or contact our support team with your model number.
Does it come with the nut?
GE lists this part as a motor pulley and nut. Contact us if you need to confirm what's in the package for your order.
Is this a genuine GE part?
Yes. This is a genuine OEM part from GE Appliances, not an aftermarket equivalent.

XPARTCO 285753A Washer Direct Drive Motor Coupler
The XPARTCO 285753A is an aftermarket replacement direct drive motor coupler (also called a motor coupling or drive coupler) compatible with a wide range of Whirlpool-family top-load washers including Whirlpool, Kenmore, KitchenAid, Maytag, Amana, Roper, Admiral, Estate, Crosley, Inglis, and Magic Chef. The motor coupler connects the drive motor shaft to the transmission — transferring the motor's power to the transmission to drive the agitator and spin the drum during wash and spin cycles. It is a deliberate weak point in the drivetrain: if the washer is overloaded, the coupler breaks apart first, protecting the far more expensive motor and transmission from damage.
This is the updated 285753A design with metal sleeves for added strength — it replaces all previous coupler styles and versions including the original 285753, 280152, 285743, and 285140. This kit includes 2 plastic coupling halves and 1 rubber isolation dampener. Dimensions approximately 2" L x 1-1/4" W x 2" H. Fits direct-drive top-load washers only — not compatible with belt-drive machines. Installs in 30–45 minutes with basic hand tools.
Quick Answer
The XPARTCO 285753A Washer Motor Coupler fixes top-load washers that fill and drain normally but will not agitate or spin. The motor coupler connects the motor to the transmission — when it breaks, the motor runs but neither the agitator nor the drum moves. Kit includes 2 plastic coupling halves and 1 rubber dampener. Updated design with metal sleeves. Replaces all previous coupler versions including 285753, 280152, 285743, 285140. Compatible with Whirlpool, Kenmore, KitchenAid, Maytag, Amana, Roper, Admiral, and more direct-drive top-load washers.
Common Problems This Part Fixes
Washer fills with water and drains but will not agitate or spin
Motor runs (you can hear it) but agitator and drum do not move
Washer spins slowly or incompletely — clothes still very wet after spin cycle
Loud humming or buzzing from the motor area without agitation or spin
Burning rubber or plastic smell during the wash or spin cycle
Washer shakes excessively — broken coupler causing uneven power transfer
Broken plastic or rubber pieces visible inside the bottom of the washer cabinet
Replaces Part Numbers
This motor coupler directly replaces the following OEM and cross-reference part numbers:
285753A, 1195967, 21003, 280152, 285140, 285743, 285753, 285753AVP, 3352470, 3363664, 3364002, 3364003, 62672, 62693, 661560, 80008, 8559748, AWP39583, PD00002353, AH1485646, EAP1485646, EA1485646, TJ285753, ER285753, AP3963893, PS1485646.
The 285753A replaces all previous motor coupler styles and versions. If your parts diagram shows any of the older numbers above, the 285753A is the correct current replacement.
Compatibility
This motor coupler is compatible with select direct-drive top-load washers from the following brands:
Whirlpool top-load washers (direct drive — no belt)
Kenmore / Sears top-load washers — 70 series, 80 series, 90 series, and 110 series (Whirlpool-built)
KitchenAid top-load washers
Maytag top-load washers (direct drive models)
Amana top-load washers
Roper top-load washers
Admiral top-load washers
Estate top-load washers
Crosley top-load washers
Inglis top-load washers
Magic Chef top-load washers
Important: The 285753A is for direct-drive top-load washers only — machines where the motor connects directly to the transmission without a belt. It is not compatible with front-load washers or older belt-drive top-load washers. If you can see a drive belt inside your washer cabinet, this is not the correct part.
Key Features
Connects the drive motor shaft to the transmission — transfers motor power to drive the agitator and spin drum
Intentional sacrificial part — designed to break before the motor or transmission during overload, saving far more expensive components
Updated 285753A design with metal sleeves — stronger than original all-plastic versions; replaces all previous coupler styles
Kit includes 2 plastic coupling halves and 1 rubber isolation dampener — complete assembly
Dimensions: approximately 2" L x 1-1/4" W x 2" H
Compatible with Whirlpool, Kenmore, KitchenAid, Maytag, Amana, Roper, Admiral, Estate, Crosley, Inglis, and Magic Chef direct-drive washers
Replaces all previous coupler versions including 285753, 280152, 285743, and 285140
Aftermarket replacement built to OEM-equivalent quality standards
Cost-effective DIY repair — typically under $15 and 30–45 minutes of work

⚠️ Unplug Washer and Shut Off Water Before Starting Disconnect power and turn off the water supply before beginning. Remove the washer's cabinet by releasing the top panel clips and removing the front panel screws — the motor and transmission are at the bottom of the machine. The motor coupler is a three-piece assembly between the motor shaft and the transmission input shaft. Pull the motor forward to release it from the mounting clips. The broken coupler pieces will likely fall out at this point — inspect the motor shaft and transmission shaft for any remaining plastic debris and clear it. Press the new rubber dampener onto the motor shaft coupling half first, then onto the transmission shaft coupling half, and snap the motor back into the mounting clips. Verify both coupler halves are seated securely and the rubber dampener is centered between them. Reassemble the front panel and top panel. Restore power and run a short cycle to confirm the agitator and spin function normally. Work gloves recommended — sharp sheet metal edges inside the cabinet. Tools needed: Phillips screwdriver, 1/4" nut driver, flat-head screwdriver, work gloves.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does the motor coupler do?
The motor coupler is a three-piece assembly — two plastic coupling halves and a rubber dampener — that connects the drive motor shaft to the transmission input shaft in direct-drive washing machines. The motor spins the coupler, which transfers that rotation to the transmission, which in turn drives the agitator and drum. The rubber dampener absorbs shock and vibration between the rigid motor and transmission shafts during direction changes. The coupler is intentionally designed as the weakest link in the drivetrain — if the washer is overloaded or the transmission seizes, the coupler breaks first to protect the far more expensive motor and transmission from damage.
My washer fills and drains but won't agitate or spin — is the motor coupler the cause?
Yes — this is the classic symptom of a broken motor coupler. Because the pump is typically driven directly by the motor before the coupler connection, a broken coupler allows the motor to run and the pump to drain normally, but neither the agitator nor the spin drum receives any power. If you can hear the motor running but nothing moves, open the washer cabinet and inspect the coupler — you will likely find broken plastic pieces at the bottom of the cabinet near the motor and transmission.
Why does the motor coupler break?
The most common cause is overloading — packing too many heavy items into the washer creates enough mechanical resistance that the coupler snaps rather than allowing the motor to be damaged. Other causes include a worn or seized transmission, a worn motor, normal wear over many years of use, or a single sudden jam caused by a foreign object. If your coupler breaks a second time shortly after replacement, inspect the transmission for signs of wear or binding — a stiff or seized transmission will continue to break new couplers.
What is the difference between 285753 and 285753A?
The 285753A is the updated current version that superseded the original 285753. The A version incorporates metal sleeve inserts in the plastic coupling halves for improved strength and durability compared to the original all-plastic design. The 285753A replaces all previous versions — including 285753, 280152, 285743, and 285140 — and is the correct part to order regardless of which older number is listed in your washer's parts diagram.
Is this an OEM or aftermarket part?
This is an aftermarket replacement part built to OEM-equivalent quality standards. It is not a genuine Whirlpool OEM part, but is manufactured from rubber, plastic, and metal to match the dimensions and performance of the original 285753A motor coupler.

279570 Genuine OEM Whirlpool Dryer Door Catch Kit
The 279570 is a Genuine OEM Whirlpool dryer door catch and strike kit compatible with a wide range of Whirlpool, Kenmore, Roper, Estate, Amana, Crosley, Inglis, KitchenAid, Maytag, and Admiral dryers. The door catch is the spring-clip mechanism on the dryer door that snaps over the door strike to hold the door firmly closed during operation, activating the door switch so the dryer can run. When the catch breaks, wears out, or loses tension, the door will not stay closed, the door switch will not be activated, and the dryer will either not start or will stop mid-cycle. The strike is the corresponding post or tab on the dryer cabinet that the catch engages.
This Genuine OEM kit includes three color-coded door catches of different tensions and two metal door strikes, plus one screw. Because the tension of the catch must match the original, Whirlpool includes three options in the kit — each is color-coded and numbered on the back. Refer to identify which catch is correct for your model. The kit directly replaces a very large list of older cross-reference numbers including 279570VP, 3493, 2003, 8208, 279280, 279337, 696144, 693717, AP3094183, PS334230, and dozens more. Installs in under 15 minutes with a Phillips screwdriver.

Installation Notes
⚠️ Unplug Dryer Before Starting Disconnect power before beginning. using the wrong tension catch will result in incorrect door resistance. Open the dryer door and locate the old door catch on the inside of the door panel and the strike on the dryer cabinet opening. To remove the old catch: press the retaining tabs and pull the catch free from its slot, or unscrew the mounting screw. Install the correct new catch into the same position. To replace the strike: remove the old strike (typically held by a single screw) and install the new strike in the same position. Close the dryer door to confirm it latches firmly with a satisfying click. Restore power and run a short test cycle to confirm the door stays closed and the dryer operates normally. Tools needed: Phillips screwdriver; needle-nose pliers may help with catch removal on some models.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does the kit include three different catches?
Whirlpool used door catches with different spring tensions across its dryer lineup — a lighter catch on some models and a stiffer catch on others. To cover all compatible models in a single kit, Whirlpool includes three catches of different tensions, each color-coded and numbered on the back. It is important to use the correct one — using a catch with too little tension may allow the door to pop open, while a catch with too much tension may make the door difficult to open.
Do I need to replace both the catch and the strike, or just one?
It depends on which component has failed. The catch (the spring-clip on the door) is the more commonly replaced part — it wears out from repeated use faster than the strike. Inspect both: if the catch is cracked or has lost its spring tension, replace the catch. If the strike is bent, cracked, or missing, replace the strike. Since the kit includes both catches and strikes, you have everything needed for a complete repair. When in doubt, replacing both ensures the full latch system is renewed.
My dryer will not start even after replacing the door catch — what else could it be?
If the dryer still will not start after the catch is replaced, the door switch may also need to be tested. The door switch is the electrical component that the door catch activates when the door closes — if the switch itself is failed, replacing the catch alone will not restore function. Test the door switch (3406107 for most Whirlpool-family models) with a multimeter for continuity in both the open and closed positions. If the switch reads open in both positions or closed in both positions, it has failed and needs replacement.
How is the 279570 different from the W11429587 dryer door catch?
The 279570 is the door catch kit for older Whirlpool-family dryers — it includes multiple catches of different tensions and metal strikes because it covers a wide range of older models. The W11429587 is a single snap-in door catch for newer Whirlpool-family dryers (Cabrio and newer platform models). If your dryer is a newer model with a snap-in catch slot rather than a screw-mounted catch and strike, you likely need the W11429587. Verify your model number to confirm which part is correct.
Is this a Genuine OEM or aftermarket part?
This is a Genuine OEM kit manufactured by Whirlpool to factory specifications. It is the exact same door catch and strike kit supplied by Whirlpool for compatible dryer service repairs — guaranteed fit, materials, and performance.

XPARTCO 280187 Washer Drain Pump Assembly
The XPARTCO 280187 is an aftermarket replacement drain pump assembly for Whirlpool-built front-load washers sold under the Whirlpool, Kenmore, Kenmore Elite, Maytag, KitchenAid, and Amana names. The drain pump pushes water out of the tub through the drain hose at the end of the wash and rinse stages. When it clogs, wears out, or seizes, the washer can stop with water still in the drum, throw drain errors, stop before the spin cycle, leak, or make loud humming or grinding noises.
This is a complete drain pump assembly, including the pump motor and housing, so it replaces the whole unit rather than just an internal part. The pump sits at the base of the washer behind the lower front panel, and the swap typically takes 15–30 minutes with common hand tools.
Quick Answer
The XPARTCO 280187 Drain Pump Assembly fixes a Whirlpool-built front-load washer that won't drain, leaves water in the drum, stops before spinning, leaks from the pump, or makes loud noise during draining. Common Problems This Part Fixes
Washer won't drain, or water is left in the drum after the cycle

⚠️ Unplug Power and Expect Water Unplug the washer and turn off the water supply before starting. Remove the lower front panel to reach the pump at the base of the washer, then drain any residual water into a shallow pan or with a wet/dry vacuum, using the drain hose or the small drain cap if your model has one. Disconnect the wiring harness from the pump, then loosen the clamps holding the hoses and pull the hoses off. Remove the pump's mounting screw and take out the old pump. Fit the new pump in the same position, reattach the hoses with the clamps (replace worn clamps if needed), and reconnect the wiring harness. Check that the pump and hose connections are secure, replace the front panel, restore power and water, and run a drain cycle while checking for leaks. Common tools include a nutdriver or Torx driver, screwdrivers, and pliers.
Frequently Asked Questions
My washer won't drain. Is this the part I need?
A failed or clogged drain pump is one of the most common causes. Before replacing it, check the drain hose and the pump filter for a clog, such as a sock or coin. If the filter is clear but the pump hums, grinds, or doesn't run, replacing the pump should fix it.
Does this include the pump motor?
Yes. This is the complete assembly, with the pump motor and housing.
My old pump is marked 285998, 8181684, 8182819, or 8182821. Will this work?
Yes. All of those are earlier Whirlpool numbers for this pump, and 280187 is the current number.
Will this fit my top-load washer?
It is intended for front-load washers. Contact our support team with your model number if you're unsure, and we'll confirm before you order.
Is this an OEM part?
No. This is an XPARTCO aftermarket replacement built to match the Whirlpool 280187. If you prefer a genuine OEM pump, contact us.
